Pressurised cabin air at cruise is profoundly dry, and every flight hour pulls moisture out of hides, veneers and carpets. Leather responds the way skin does: it loses suppleness first, then shows fine lines along the flex points — seat bolsters, armrest edges, crease lines — and finally cracks where the finish has stiffened over dried substrate.

Aviation leather is almost always finished (pigmented), so care starts with pH-appropriate cleaning that lifts soil without stripping the finish, followed by conditioners that restore moisture without leaving the slick, transfer-prone film that silicone products do. Perforated and quilted hides need product discipline — conditioner pooled in perforations attracts the next month's soil.
